Every single word above is unsolicited testimony from Granex clients, specifically about our installation team. For this Employee Spotlight, we couldn’t single out one specific installer because installation day is always a team effort. They literally do all of the heavy lifting to bring our product to fruition. Most natural stone distributors do not have their own installation teams. Granex takes pride in being one of the very few that also cuts and installs all of our product.

We consider our installation team the ambassadors of our business because they’re the last ones to work with our clients, and therefore the last ones to leave an impression. And by the sounds of it, these guys are definitely impressing people. We cannot thank them enough.

“When you give people food, it warms their heart,” says Gina, Granex receptionist and the first friendly face you typically see at the front office. Every Friday, you’ll catch her running around the entire building setting up lunch and delivering food to a staff of 50+ employees. Free Friday lunches are a company perk and a company commitment rooted in sincere acknowledgement and gratitude for their employees. Gina does all the ordering and knows, “It’s not cheap, and it’s definitely something that the owners don’t have to provide to us…but they want to…”

Feeding their employees is only part of the family atmosphere that they’ve managed to create. From the meticulously designed offices that offer a homey environment, to the truly supportive teams and leaders, Granex strives to deliver their company promise to their employees of providing “…a safe work place, open communications and trusting relationships.” Gina knows all too well about companies that don’t live up to their mission statements. By contrast, Granex is quite the opposite, “Granex feels very real and authentic. We’re not fake, and we don’t judge each other. Instead, we celebrate our differences and strengths. We want this to be a successful, happy place. I love it here!”

We can all appreciate the beauty and craftsmanship of a finished countertop. At Granex Industries, we believe that craftsmanship is born in the CAD department. The Granex CAD department, responsible for accurately templating and measuring, is where the stone starts its path to the perfect fit.

Corey O’Brien, Granex Chief Executive Officer and owner, distinctly remembers 2006, when they purchased their first CNC router, “From day one, we committed to the path to automation.” He was right. Fifteen years later, that commitment to technology still exists and is thriving. Granex is using the best softwares and machines that are available in today’s stone industry. In the last 12 months, they’ve added two robotic saw jets and acquired more templating machines. And the additions don’t stop there. The size of the CAD department has doubled with the recent addition of new, tech savvy talent and the inclusion of the expediting team. They have also figured out a way to improve their internal processes to decrease lead times and increase accuracy.

Corey believes this restructuring and change in process has become a bigger part of what they do, because its positive effects have trickled down into the manufacturing and installation departments. Each department is more efficient than ever. His continued commitment to the CAD department is stronger than ever when he says, “We’re not there yet. We’re constantly changing. We’re constantly innovating, innovating, and innovating to make the process better.”
